Globe Telecom is prepared to make its VoLTE service available to postpaid customers in more towns and municipalities throughout the country. The telco's constant network expansion and modernization efforts have resulted in the imminent rollout of Voice over LTE or VoLTE service to postpaid customers in 1,538 towns and cities across the country.
Furthermore, Globe reports that its VoLTE coverage in 575 towns and cities in at least 25 provinces in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao is now enabled and optimized.
Globe's VoLTE service is ready for use in 153 towns and cities in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Cebu, Davao del Norte, and Davao del Sur. Based on its latest track, the telco has also made VoLTE ready in 422 areas in Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Batangas, Laguna, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Misamis Oriental, Guimaras, Siquijor, and Bukidnon.
Globe's Chief Commercial Officer Issa Guevarra-Cabreira said, "While the new normal has been challenging, we saw this as an opportunity to create better solutions and technologies for our customers in need of support during this difficult time. We want to make their mobile experience better and an enhanced VoLTE service is one of them."
VoLTE or Voice over LTE is a high-speed wireless communication standard for smartphones utilizing 4G LTE instead of the traditional voice networks, including 2G and 3G.
VoLTE has many advantages over 2G and 3G networks' old voice services. It has three times more voice capacity than 3G and up to six times more than 2G. This technology allows the network to accommodate more customers placing calls simultaneously, enabling faster call set-up, providing clearer voice quality, and lower instances of dropped calls. VoLTE also allows users to connect to the Internet while on a call simultaneously, and this offers a seamless mobile browsing experience, especially with online gaming and video streaming.
Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) or WiFi Calling is a handy complement to VoLTE. VoWiFi helps resolve issues with indoor mobile coverage, such as voice calls affected by the distance between the phone and the nearest network tower, building walls that block wireless signals, and weak signal strength within a home or building. Depending on the WiFi service's capacity and signal strength and a VoWiFi-capable smartphone, VoWiFi can fix these problems because customers can use their existing WiFi connection to make phone calls.
Both VoLTE and VoWiFi calls work like and charge as regular calls, but customers who have active Globe unli call promo can also have unli VoLTE, and VoWiFi calls within the Globe network. These two services also work on any WiFi network.
Globe customers can check if their smartphone is VoLTE-capable, find new VoLTE-ready locations, or know more about VoLTE through the Online FAQs page <https://www.globe.com.ph/help/postpaid/volte.html>. Globe prepaid subscribers may also check the online FAQs for more information.
Since last year, Globe's accelerated building of cell sites has made it possible for customers to improve their calling, SMS, and internet surfing experience.
