Riot Games Southeast Asia has announced the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Stage 3 - Challengers Playoffs. It will feature 16 of the region's best VALORANT teams vying for two spots at next month's VCT Stage 3 Masters tournament in Berlin, Germany.

Due to emerging COVID-19 developments in Riot's key tournament markets, the VCT Stage 3 - Challengers SEA - Playoffs group stage will be pushed back one day and will now run from August 13 to 16. This schedule change will not affect the Playoffs finals dates, which remain from August 19 to 22, and the tournament's overall format and caster roster will stay the same.

2021 VCT Stage 3 - SEA Playoffs Overview

VCT Stage 3 - Challengers SEA will start from August 13 to 16 (Week 1) and conclude on August 19 to 22 (Week 2). During this period, 16 best teams from the region will battle it out to compete for one of two slots to represent Southeast Asia at the upcoming Masters 3: Berlin in September 2021, where they will face the top teams from North America, EMEA, Brazil, LATAM, Japan and Korea. Moreover, these teams are vying for championship points that will count toward qualification at Valorant Champions, the biggest tournament of the 2021 VCT.

The SEA Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs feature the winners of the three Challengers tournaments in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, as well as the winners of the two qualifying events in Malaysia and Singapore, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. Here are the qualified teams.

VCT Stage 3 - Challengers SEA - Playoffs Game Format

Playoffs will take place over two weekends. In the first weekend (13-16 August), teams will be drawn into 4 groups that will play single round-robin, best-of-2 (BO2) matches where they will be awarded points based on the best-of-2 results. Groups in this first weekend can't have two teams from the same region. Points in this group stage will be awarded along with the following outcomes:

• A 2-0 victory would earn the winner three points.
• A 1-1 draw earns both teams 1 point.
• Tiebreakers will be determined by head-to-head scores based on maps and then rounds.

The top two teams from each group will then advance to the second weekend's Playoff finals (August 19-22). These teams will be drawn into a double-elimination bracket of eight teams, with the additional rule that teams from the same group cannot meet in the first round. Two teams will advance to represent Southeast Asia at Masters 3: Berlin in September 2021.

All 16 teams will compete for a share from the total prize pool of USD 100,000 and 260 championship points.
