How to Avoid Unwanted Load Deductions or "Nakaw Load" in Globe, Smart
Have you ever encountered situations where your prepaid load is deducted even though you didn't use mobile data, sent a text, or made a call? If you're among the people who experienced this, you may find this guide of great help to avoid these unwanted load deductions.
The reason why unwanted load deductions or "nakaw load" happens is when a subscriber clicks an online advertisement link or VAS (value-added service) provider button. These third-party providers to charge customers without their consent is against the rules. Prepaid customers must receive a verification code first via SMS to opt-in to the subscription and cancellation instructions to unsubscribe from it.
There are also instances of "kain load" when a customer attempts to register a specific promo, but the transaction failed. Besides unwanted load deductions, the unwanted data charges are also a problem for subscribers, where their regular load is being deducted when they unintentionally turned on their mobile data.
How to Report "Nakaw Load" Incidents?
If you've been a victim of "nakaw load" or unauthorized prepaid load deductions from VAS providers, report the incident to your respective telco customer service for investigation and appropriate resolution. Below are the contacts for Globe and Smart networks.

How to Avoid Unwanted Load Deductions?
Below are some tips to avoid unwanted load deductions in Globe or Smart.
For Globe users:
1. Monitor your load balance regularly
- Dial *143# on your mobile phone to access the USSD code menu. This will display your load balance at the top part and provide menus to inquire about your existing promo status (remaining calls, texts, or data).
2. Turn on the SurfAlert service to block unexpected data charge
- Text SURFALERT ON to 8080
- Another method is via USSD Menu Browser. Dial *143# > My Account > Mobile Internet Usage > Turn ON mobile internet alerts. You will then receive an SMS saying that your SurfAlert has been activated, and you will start receiving free alerts when your phone connects to the internet.
This service is free. Take note that your internet connection is on hold until you register for a data promo. In case you want to turn off alerts and continue surfing at regular browsing rates, you can text SURFALERT OFF to 8080.
3. Stop value-added services
If you receive text messages from VAS, even if you don't have a previous subscription, then your prepaid load will be deducted until you unsubscribe from it. Don't delete these messages yet, as they will come in handy. Below is the tutorial on how to stop these value-added services,
- To verify your subscription status of the VAS, text HELP and send it to the access number code provided in the SMS.
- To unsubscribe to their services, text STOP and send it to the access number code provided in the SMS.
