YEP opens NICL regional qualifiers for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mineski Philippines, through its Youth Esports Program (YEP), has officially opened the regional qualifiers for the National Interschool Cyber League (NICL). For NICL's third leg, teams will compete in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, one of the most played mobile games in the Philippines.

Mobile Legends' popularity has made some universities used it as an alternative to their traditional physical education classes. It is also the most-watched esports tournament with 136 million views in the recently concluded M2 World Championship.

Registration is now open to senior high school and college students ages 16 to 22. Teams from the National Capital Region (NCR) must sign up on or before April 11 (Sunday), while those from other areas of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao must register by April 16 (Friday). Tournaments will run from April 13 to May 7, 2021. A PHP 150,000 prize pool is also allocated for the games. The program already has 80 chapters or affiliate schools and has already received funding from some international brands, including OPPO.
