The Mi Mix Fold is Xiaomi's first commercial folding phone at the Spring 2021 New Product Launch after the announcement of Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. Xiaomi is making significant claims regarding the Mi Mix Fold's audio capabilities, with four Harman Kardon-tuned speakers and what the China-based electronics firm calls 3D panoramic sound.

Running under the hood is the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor coupled with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of data. It packs a battery capacity of 5,020mAh, and Xiaomi claims that the 67W fast-charging system will charge the foldable smartphone to 100% in 37 minutes.

The new Mi Mix Fold is also the first phone with a camera that uses liquid lens technology. Xiaomi claims that its 8MP telephoto lens with a near focusing distance of 3cm and optical zoom of 3x or 30x hybrid zoom is possible. A Samsung HMX 108-megapixel primary sensor and a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor make up most of the camera system. Optimizing the photos is Xiaomi's self-developed Surge C1 Image Signal Processor.
