Internet testing firm Ookla has released its Global Speedtest Index report for August 2021. Based on the latest data, the Philippines' internet speed has not seen some significant improvements. The Philippines decreased one position in the global ranking for mobile download speeds. Meanwhile, the country maintained its position in fixed broadband speeds.

The Philippines went down 1 spot to 73rd globally for the Mobile category, posting an average download speed of 33.77 Mbps. The mobile upload speed was posted at 8.63 Mbps, while 30 ms is the average latency. Compared to the July ranking of 72nd that recorded an average download of 33.69 Mbps, 8.83 Mbps for upload, and latency of 31ms, the download and latency have improved.

For the Fixed Broadband division, the country kept its rank, still at 63rd, registering an average of 72.56 Mbps download speeds. The upload speed and latency were recorded at 72.16 Mbps and 19 ms, respectively. August's overall performance has moderately gained compared to the previous month's record of 71.17 Mbps (download), 71.22 Mbps (upload), and 22ms (latency).

The United Arab Emirates is still the top 1 in the mobile internet speed leaderboards, having an average speed of 195.52 Mbps. For fixed broadband, Singapore ranked first, replacing Monaco, with an average of 262.20 Mbps download speeds.

The Speedtest Global Index for August 2021 includes 140 countries for mobile and 180 countries for fixed broadband.
