Globe subscribers can now convert their data into Rewards points, which can be donated to help victims of Typhoon Odette.

From January 15, Globe users can convert data from their preferred account by visiting the Rewards section of the new GlobeOne app and tapping convert data.

Data conversion is as follows:

  • 5GB = 50 Pesos

According to Globe Telecom, donations will be used in the relief efforts of partner organizations, including Ayala Foundation, ABS-CBN Foundation, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Rise Against Hunger Philippines, PGH Foundation, and Tzu Chi Foundation in areas hit by Typhoon Odette.

Mobile subscribers, both prepaid and postpaid, as well as home broadband customers both prepaid and volume-based postpaid, can convert their points into donations through the new GlobeOne app.

To convert unused data, Globe customers can follow the steps below.
1. Go to Rewards on the new GlobeOne app.
2. Tap on Convert data.
3. Select your account.
4. Convert unused GBs to Points.
5. Wait for confirmation.
6. Start donating to Globe's partner beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, donations made through Globe Rewards and GCash are still being accepted. To those interested in donating, they can visit the official GCash Facebook page to access partner beneficiaries' #GCashGivesBack QR Codes.

Globe chief commercial officer Issa Guevarra-Cabreira said their "aim is to arm their customers with as many options as possible" to help and reach the communities affected by the devastating Typhoon Odette, "all from the safety of their homes."

Guevarra-Cabreira added that this "first-in-the-industry Data-As-Currency offer" enables their customers the "means" to "extend a helping hand."
