PUBG now free-to-play on PC, consoles

Krafton has officially announced that PUBG: Battlegrounds is now free-to-play on PC and consoles. It went live after the maintenance for Patch 15.2 on January 12, 2022.

The battle royale now includes a free basic version that consists of the majority of the game modes. To join ranked or custom matches, you need to pay USD 12.99 (around PHP 660) for Battlegrounds Plus.

The full list of PUBG Battlegrounds Plus benefits are:
  • Extra 1,300 G-Coins
  • Survival Masters XP + 100% boost
  • Career - Medal tab
  • Ranked Mode
  • Custom Match functionality
  • Items, including the Captain's Camo set (hat, camo mask, and camo gloves)

Those who purchased and played PUBG previously will receive the Special Commemorative Pack, which includes an automatic account upgrade to Battlegrounds Plus, and in-game cosmetics such as the Battle-Hardened costume skin set, the Shackle and Shanks Legacy Pan, and the Battle-Hardened Legacy nameplate.

To commemorate the relaunch, Krafton offers players rewards via Drops events. Players can watch streams, complete in-game missions, and invite friends to earn various rewards.

Moreover, the 15.2 Update of PUBG Battlegrounds includes several new features, such as two new tutorial modes, a tactical drone, and EMT gear that provides players and their teammates with healing boosts.

How to download PUBG: Battlegrounds?

You can download PUBG via Steam (for PC). It is also available on PlayStation Store (for PlayStation), Xbox Store (for Xbox), and Stadia app (for Google Stadia).

To recall, PUBG revealed its transition to a free-to-play business model during The Game Awards 2021 in December.

Meanwhile, its mobile counterpart, PUBG Mobile, which has been available for free since its inception in 2018, maintains to be one of the most popular games worldwide.
