Xiaomi 12 Pro tops Antutu's List (January 2022)

China-based tech firm Antutu has released the Global Top 10 Best Performing Flagship and Midrange Phones for January 2022. Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro topped the flagship department, while iQOO Z5 dominated the mid-range segment.

According to Antutu, the top 10 best-performing Android smartphones included in the January 2022 list were calculated from January 1 to 31, 2022, with average scores considered instead of the highest scores to be more representative.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered Mi 12 Pro ranked first in the flagship group, recording an average Antutu score of 979,499 points. Xiaomi 12 Pro features a 6.73-inch panel with a 1440p resolution and an LTPO 2.0 backplane that enables variable refresh rates of up to 120Hz. It is also equipped with LPDDR5 RAM (operating at up to 6400 Mbps) and a UFS 3.1 flash memory.

The former top one, Nubia Red Magic 6, came second place, with an average of 858,275 Antutu points. Meanwhile, the previous second placer, Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro, dropped to the third spot, posting an average of 835,786 points.

Rounding out the top 10 are Red Magic 6R (825,719), realme GT (823,383), ROG Phone 5 (820,262), iQOO 7 (817,309), OnePlus 9 Pro (806,964), Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (795,273), and OnePlus 9 (794,634).

Global Top 10 best-performing midrange smartphones for January 2022

iQOO Z5 secured the top spot in the mid-range department, with an average Antutu score of 556,715 points. It features a large 6.67-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Moreover, iQOO Z5 comes with Snapdragon 778G SoC and a 64MP triple rear camera module.

Meanwhile, the previous top 1 and 2, realme GT Master and Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, are ranked second and third, respectively. The former recorded an average Antutu score of 538,922 points, while the latter registered 523,872.

They are followed by Mi 11 Lite 5G NE (510,574), HONOR 50 (507,619), Galaxy A52s 5G (500,662), Galaxy M52 5G (492,795), Vivo V23 5G (481,844), iQOO Z3 (43,978), and OPPO Reno6 5G (435,300).

Compared to the December 2021 list, the January 2022 charts are still dominated by Snapdragon chipsets. This also marks the first appearance of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the Antutu global ranking.

For several months, no other processor in the Android market, particularly in the high-end chipset department, has been able to compete with Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Note that the results of the benchmarking tool Antutu are estimates only. The actual performance still depends on the user's usage and comfort.
