Globe removes one-time activation fee for Facetime, iMessage

Globe Telecom has announced the removal of the one-time activation fee for Facetime and iMessage services. Thus, iPhone users are encouraged to activate their Facetime and iMessage now that the activation of the said services is free of charge.

Users can use Facetime to make audio and video conversations, while iMessage allows them to send texts through WiFi or mobile data.

How to activate Facetime and iMessage in Globe?

To activate and access Facetime and iMessage on their Apple devices, Globe users with 4G/LTE or 5G SIM cards need only to download and install the newest version of iOS 15.2 and the Carrier Setting Update, which is only available for the most recent iPhone models (iPhone 6S and later).

Meanwhile, customers who are currently on 2G or 3G SIM cards are urged to switch to 4G/LTE or 5G SIM cards at no additional cost at Globe Stores to enjoy free activation and continue using Facetime and iMessage services.

How to upgrade Globe SIM card?

Customers who wish to receive a free SIM upgrade must make an appointment on the Globe website (glbe.co/abs-queue) before visiting their selected store. They must bring the following items on the day of their appointment:

1. One (1) valid I.D. (Government-issued ID, Company ID, or School ID)

2. Your actual/physical SIM

3. Your confirmation receipt after you booked your appointment online

Postpaid customers requesting a SIM upgrade through an Authorized Representative must present the following requirements on the day of the store visit.

1. One (1) valid I.D. of the Authorized Representative

2. Notarized Special Power of Attorney (SPA)

While Facetime and iMessage are free, Globe reminds consumers that regular data charges may apply when utilizing mobile data.

Globe shared that they acknowledge the importance of these messaging services to Apple device users.
